What are the pieces made of?
Each piece is made from recycled watch parts and costume jewelry bits.
Where do I get all of the watch parts?
I go to flea markets and estate auctions throughout the year, and also get old watches from friends and family. I scour the internet for old watches and import them from as far away as Russia and Bulgaria.
How do you get the watch parts inside the glass in some of your pieces?
Well, it's not glass, but resin. I arrange the pieces the way I want, then use a multi-stage process to cover the pieces with clear, non-yellowing resin.
What do you do when you're not making jewelry?
I'm director of operations for the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, one of the top art shows in the country. It takes place in State College, PA. Our group also puts on the First Night State College celebration, every Dec. 31.
I'm the president-elect of our local Rotary for 2019. And I have volunteered several times to help people whose lives have been devastated by hurricanes. I also also have been on several mission trips to Rwanda, and have remained in touch with a number of the people I met there.
Do you have any studio pets?
Two cats, Lily and Maxwell.
